Shruthi Shivkumar

sunflower

once you were one of
those golden beauties
bending towards light,
like a yogist plant practicing
sun salutation,

but something about you
chasing passing rays
made me glow less bright,
and now you don’t bend
any longer.

Shruthi Shivkumar has been writing since she could form letters of the alphabet with a pencil, and started thinking up poetic thoughts shortly after.
